Pernambuco (Paubrasilia Echinata) or Brazilwood is a very rare wood to see on the market. It has traditionally been used as a bow wood for violins, as well as for making red dye. Super, super dense and stable! Tons of history behind this wood.
Over harvesting has unfortunately left pernambuco on the endangered species list and import/export is highly regulated. I only have a few blocks of pre CITES stock and once it's gone, it's gone. I won't be procuring more.
This block features great chatoyance and takes a fantastic polish. Dried for decades and are ready to go!
