Knife Handle Supply Non-Hardening Wax

Being a supplier of wood and composites, we go through a LOT of wax here at Knife Handle Supply.  After trying numerous products already on the market, we decided to formulate our own.

Our goal was simple.  Create an exceptionally high quality finishing and maintenance wax using ingredients selected for their individual properties, without charging a premium price.

Our Non-Hardening Wax is made in house using a carefully selected blend of cold pressed camellia seed oil, organic MCT oil, U.S. sourced beeswax, carnauba wax, and genuine shellac wax.

The result is an easy to apply wax that spreads beautifully, buffs to a rich finish, and helps protect against moisture without curing into a hard film.

It works wonderfully on natural and stabilized woods, Micarta, carbon fiber, steel, and many other materials and composites.

What's In It, and Why?

We believe the quality of a finishing wax starts with its ingredients.  Rather than relying on a simple blend of inexpensive oils and waxes, we've selected each ingredient for what it contributes to the finished product.

Cold Pressed Camellia Seed Oil

A highly regarded finishing and maintenance oil with a long history of use protecting fine tools, blades, and wood.  Camellia oil spreads easily, helps protect surfaces against moisture, and doesn't cure into a hard film.

Organic Fractionated Coconut MCT Oil

A lightweight, exceptionally stable oil that helps our wax spread evenly and penetrate porous materials. MCT oil is highly resistant to rancidity, making it an excellent choice for a maintenance wax.

U.S. Sourced White Beeswax

Our beeswax is produced from U.S. honey cappings and triple filtered. We specifically chose white beeswax for its neutral color, helping preserve the natural appearance of everything from pale woods and light Micarta to dark, highly figured materials.

Carnauba Wax

One of the hardest naturally occurring waxes.  We use a small amount to modify the hardness and polishing characteristics of our wax blend without sacrificing ease of application.

Genuine Shellac Wax

Not shellac finish or shellac resin!  Shellac wax is a naturally occurring hard wax separated from raw lac during processing.  Ours originates in India and is further refined through molten filtration in the U.S.

Shellac wax has traditionally been blended with beeswax to increase hardness.  We use it alongside carnauba to help create a firmer, more substantial wax blend.

Organic Lemon Rind Oil

Added in a very small amount for a pleasant, subtle citrus scent.

Vitamin E

An antioxidant included in a small amount as part of our oil blend.

Directions for Use

Apply a very small amount of wax using your finger or a soft cloth.  A little goes a VERY long way, and applying more than necessary won't improve the finish.

Allow the wax to sit briefly, then remove any excess with a clean, soft cloth and buff to the desired finish.

For best results, we recommend gently warming the material before application and allowing the wax to sit for approximately 3 to 15 minutes before buffing.  Warming is optional, but can help the oils penetrate porous materials.

Non-Hardening vs. True-Hardening

Our Non-Hardening Wax is designed for easy application, routine maintenance, and use across a wide variety of materials. Its oils remain non drying, making the finish easy to refresh whenever needed.
