Macassar Ebony Scales (Natural) - MACS02

Macassar Ebony (Diospyros Celebica) is a true ebony species from Southeast Asia known for its dramatic striped appearance.  Reddish-brown to black heartwood is demarcated by beautiful, pale-golden sapwood stripes.  Just stunning material!

Like most ebony species, Macassar Ebony is a very strong and stable wood (once dried) that does not require stabilizing.  Care must be taken not to overheat the wood when grinding to prevent cracking though.

Very difficult to dry properly (takes years).  These scales have been stored for nearly a decade and are dry and ready to be worked!

Scales measure 6" x 1.5" x .30" and are sold as a set.
